The STRIKEFORCE

The Strikeforce FAQ !

What is & Why The STRIKEFORCE?

·       We are a ministry that serves in Church and for Church activities. This includes performances and physical arrangement.

·       We are also a professional performance group that reaches out to the marketplace of the world.

How do we do it and make ourselves different from other percussion groups?

·       We try our best to stay away from conventional rhythms and especially the conventional presentation methods for a percussion ensemble.

·       We try to think "out of the box" and also "out of Youtube".

·       Having said that, The Strikeforce is fully convinced that "there is nothing new under the sun"! Ecclesiastes 1:9

What gives us inspiration?

The Strikeforce’s inspiration comes from Jesus Christ, Pastor Kong Hee, each other during active brain storming, rhythms of the world which we try to fuse, great musicals such as Stomp, Blast, Blue Man Group and Recycled Percussion.

Our CREED

·       One Band One Sound (2 sounds, no band!)

·       I am Great! ONLY IF my neighbour is as GREAT as me.

What should be your response?

Before that question is answered, we should learn to define the following:

·       Family – a group of related things or people, a group of people who are generally not of blood relations but who share common attitudes, interests, or goals. As we hope that all families will be filled with love, but it also often comes with clash of character and personalities.

·       Team - a number of persons associated in some joint action. A team is always united. As they say, “the team comes before the individual”. As individuals, we got to plant our roots deep into the team so we can stay as one solid body.

·       Ministry – In the sense of a CHC non-full-time minister. When we feed the hungry, help the lame, we are ministering. When we give a cup of water to our CG leader, we are ministering. When we play music on stage & off stage, in church or out of church, we are still ministering, giving our Best!

And WHATEVER you do,

do it HEARTILY, as TO THE LORD and not to men. Col 3:23

Let’s Broaden our horizons concerning Ministry!

We believe in building the SF family first, building the SF team next and then finally strengthening the SF ministry. (SF=Strikeforce)

The Strikeforce is not a stepping stone to leadership nor a temp. replacement of another ministry, it is:

·       a family where I can come ‘home’ to

·       a team where I will serve together irregardless of the service types

·       a ministry where I find my niche

Simple rules to follow to ensure a enjoyable time of fulfilling ministry

Its not how well you play or how good you look or even how talented you are.

Attitude & APTITUDE determines your Altitude! Initiative is the next best friend!

Accountability

·       Check The Strikeforce Blogspot by every Wednesday every week - http://thestrikeforceupdate.blogspot.com for updates on training and Reply your attendance by Thurs 2359hrs.

·       Take initiative to hound your contact group IC if there are no news on the latest updates.

·       Respond to SMS and Calls immediately or WITHIN 24HRS.

All new members will be assessed through a 5-month orientation/probation period from 15 Mar 09 till 15 Aug 09. Attendance – Can only be absent not more than 3 times without valid reasons in 1 year.

Commitment to be an effective minister:

·       MUST be committed to weekly Ministry Training Time (MTT) or stipulated trainings (e.g. NDP 09)

·       To be interested & watch music videos or listen to music – related to creativity, rhythms, performances

·       Attend and purchase tickets to learn and be inspired by great programs offered thru Singapore Arts Fest, Singapore Drumfest, Mosaic Music Fest, Singfest etc.

·       Attend and purchase tickets to drum clinics/improvement workshops as much as possible

·       Help out in Physical Arrangement & SF Logistics

·       Keeping the training grounds clean

Rules in performance/practice

It is important to be doubtful of yourself whether you are playing in time with the band!

Listening to others is the most important

Perfect Practice makes Perfect! For the whole team to sound & perform great, it can take up many boring hours of corporate practice. Pls refer to Creed 2 again.

Every PRACTICE IS a PERFORMANCE,

Every PERFORMANCE IS a PERFORMANCE!!!

Many may not start as drummers, but after training, you should start to confidently call yourself a drummer. Its good that you know The Strikeforce’s current percentage of “ppl that only started learning drums when they joined SF” stands at an astounding 95%.

However, this is still after all a skill-orientated ministry/group, more playing experience & training will only make each and everyone a better drummer performer.

He who is FAITHFUL IN what is LEAST

is FAITHFUL also IN MUCH…. Luke 16:10

Be FAITHFUL IN LITTLE things. Take Ownership – Be Good Stewards of the privilege to serve God in this unique ministry!

3 NEVERS:

·       NEVER FORGET (the parts)

·       NEVER BACK OFF (from your performance stance)

·       NEVER LET GO (of what you envision to achieve on stage thru ministry)

Gig culture

As a professional performance outfit, we get invited and hired to perform in various corporate & national gigs. In some of the performances, the participants will be paid.

The labourer is worthy of his wages… Luke 10:7

At all performances, we are ministering irregardless of getting paid or not.

Although there is NO compulsion to play for any performance, but let’s stay eager & willing to MINISTER at all times!
