*scape Drum Circle Weekend – Sat/Sun June 7th & 8th 6pm to 10pm

It's the Rhythm of Life - Drum up your health!
Over the weekend of 7 & 8 June, join 100 drummers as they share the joy of drumming as they embark on a "Pied Piper style" Street conga & drum parade from the Orchard MRT area to *scape.

Its not just its sound and sight, but all on the street and at *scape Youth Centre/Youth Park are invited to join in the fun and be a part of this drum entourage. In collaboration with and led by Christine Stevens, an internationally acclaimed author, music therapist, and speaker, this parade promotes the well-being of the mind, body and spirit through participation in a "drum circle".

Starting at 6:00pm, the Troupe of drummers joined with dancers & cheer leaders will enliven a festive atmosphere with their rhythmic beats, engaging and encouraging passers-by to join them in this parade. The parade will end up at *scape Youth Centre by 7pm for the Drum Circle & other performances

Typically, people gather in "drum circles" with others from the surrounding community. The main objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and themselves. Another main motivation is also drumming for health & happiness. This is achieved as participants form a group consciousness. "A new voice, a collective voice, will then emerges from the group as they drum together," said Christine Stevens, who will also be sharing the benefits of music and wellness during the "drum circle" at *scape.

Christine Stevens, who is also the founder of UpBeat Drum Circles, has appeared on NBC, CBS and Living Better TV. She has drummed with many Fortune 500 companies internationally, students at ground zero NYC post 911 and most recently with survivors of "Katrina" in New Orleans. She is the author of The Healing Drum Kit and The Art and Heart of Drum Circles.

The programme at *scape on 7 & 8 June will also include performances by top local percussion groups and bands and an international authentic 26 member Cuban act "Baila Cuba" with its fabulous dancers!
